Eileen Ann DeWitt Murphy...A 90th Birthday Moment
Eileen Ann DeWitt Murphy...A 90th Birthday Moment

Eileen Murphy was a doer and a passionate supporter of democracy and to that end- a prolific protester. She felt if change was needed- you needed to get involved and do what you can to make it happen. When she turned 90 in 2006- Her family surprised her and together with the clan, presented this video for her birthday party. July 19th, 1916 - was a day to remember. Two amazing babies arrived who made a difference to everyone they touched. No one could tell them apart- even their family! They became known as "the Twins". They referred to each other "Sis and Sas"... and then through the years they just used Sassy which was perfect for both of them. Unique, loving, hilarious and a lot of "sas". This video celebrated Eileen's 90th Sadly her twin passed 5 yrs prior but as she would say-" I talk to Sassy all the time". It was a forever bond she had with her beloved twin. They were so different- Kathleen avoided controversy while Eileen relished it-especially if it was political and someone's rights were being threatened. On one trip to Ireland, despite assurances of staying out of trouble, Eileen told Kathleen that she was going to the post office to mail a letter home. Kathleen heard a lot of noise outside her hotel window and there was my aunt joining in a march for Ireland's Independence. Welcome to Eileen's Tapestry!
